Philip Samuel Masi
B: Jan 6, 1916, Chicago, IL — D: Mar 29, 1990, Mount Prospect, IL

A catcher for Braves, Pirates and White Sox, in his 14-year career Phil was a four-time All-Star, known for his defensive skills. His Braves team made it to the 1948 World Series. In the eighth inning of Game One, Bob Feller apparently picked Masi, a pinch runner, off second base but ruled safe by the umpire. Phil then scored the games only run on a single. The Braves won this game but eventually dropped the Series. Upon Masis death, his will contained an admission that he really was out on the pick-off play.
