Anthony La Russa, Jr.
B: Oct 4, 1944, Tampa, FL
The first manager to ever win multiple pennants, the second to win the World Series, and the fourth to be named Manager of the Year in both leagues. Tony ranks third all-time in wins by a manager. During that time, he managed the White Sox, As and Cardinals. His playing career curtailed by injury, Tony appeared in 132 games as a player. After retirement, La Russa earned a law degree from the University of Florida, but chose managing in the minor leagues over practicing law. Tony and his wife founded the California-based Animal Rescue Foundation to save injured, abused and abandoned cats and dogs.
