Douglas Vernon “Doug” DeCinces
B: 8/29/1950 Burbank CA
After nine years with the Orioles and always being compared to the player he replaced at third base, Brooks Robinson, Doug was traded in 1982 to the California Angels. His dramatic home run against the Tigers in June, 1979, is credited with triggering the Orioles Magic that carried the team to the World Series that year. In 1987, DeCinces played briefly for the St. Louis Cardinals before moving on to the Japanese League. An AL All-Star in 1983 and a Silver Slugger winner, DeCinces is a member of two Halls of Fame: the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Pierce College.
