John Anthony Castino
B: Oct 23, 1954, Evanston, IL
Johns performance in his first year with the Twins merited a Co-Rookie of the Year award, which he shared with Alfredo Griffin. His batting improved even more the next season and it seemed that Castino would be a fixture in the Twins infield, capably handling duties at second, third and short. However, Castinos career was ended after five seasons when chronic back pain forced him to have a spinal operation. He never regained full range of motion and had to retire. Castino returned to Rollins College to finish his degree, completed an MBA, and today is a highly successful investment advisor in Wayzata, MN.
